BIOGRAPHY

Dan Kottmann is an up-and-coming record producer, engineer, guitarist and educator, emerging out of the New York Metropolitan music scene.  Born from the mud of the Hudson River, Dan began his musical career at an early age.  As a teenager he spent his time attending one of New York's most prestigious high school music programs, while playing in clubs, touring, and recording local artists by night.  Durring that time he began to establish himself as a live mix engineer at local venues such as The Bardavon Opera House, Ulster Performing Arts Center, and The Ritz Theater, working with a long list of artists, including: John Legend, Diana Ross, The Temptations, Jeff Beck, Santana, Smokey Robinson, ZZ Top, Buena Vista Social Club, Kris Kristofferson, Sheryl Crow, Stanley Jordan, Sharon Isbin, Romero Lubambo, Happy Traum, Guy Davis, Emmylou Harris, Liza Minnelli, Graham Parker, John Hiatt, Natalie Merchant, Robert Cray, Joe Bonamassa and countless others.

After graduating from high school, Dan relocated to Westchester County to pursue a B.M. in Studio Production and a M.M. in Studio Composition at SUNY Purchase College.  Since graduating Dan has produced, engineered, and performed with artists such as Corey Glover (Living Colour), Joe Ferry (The Skatalites, Dr. John), Hanan Rubinstein (Alicia Keys), Lawrence Worrell (Amy Winehouse, George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic), Joey Ray (solo artist), Allan Craig Wallace (Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Drifters), Richie Cannata (Billy Joel, The Beach Boys), Benny Harrison (Flavor Flav, Slash), Vinny Nobile (Bim Skala Bim), Adrienne Mack-Davis (solo artist), Revolutionary Council Afrobeat, Skyler Cocco (solo artist) and many others.  He has also performed on some of New York’s most historic stages, including Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Bardavon Opera House, The Chance, Sullivan Hall, The Bitter End, The Shrine, and others.

Dan currently tours with multiple groups including his original project, Gridline, in which he sings and plays guitar.  Gridline has opened for major international acts: Iggy Azalea, Oz Noy, Galactic, Max Creek, Kung Fu and The Nigel Hall Band.  Gridline consists of (from Left to Right): Neal Spitzer (Saxophone), Dan (Guitar, Lead Vocals), Robbie Elder (Drums), Andrew Yanchyshyn (Bass, Vocals) and Zach Schepis (Guitar, Vocals).
